May 5, 2018, All Day @ Targeted neighborhoods include: Sunset Mobile Home Park, Ford Mobile Home Park, Spring Gardens, Evergreen and Evergreen East, Pender Avenue and two surrounding subdivsions.
The American Red Cross Virginia Region will be participating in our national Sound the Alarm program - we will be working with cities and counties across the country, helping to install smoke alarms to help reduce the number of deaths caused by home fires.
Petersburg is one of the (7) localities across VA where we will be installing alarms on May 5th. We will be working in conjunction with the Petersburg Fire Department, as well as Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and potentially a couple of other community organizations to go door-to-door, checking smoke alarms; replacing batteries; and replacing or installing new free smoke alarms in homes that don’t have them.
Targeted neighborhoods: : Sunset Mobile Home Park; Ford Mobile Home Park; Spring Gardens; Evergreen and Evergreen East; Pender Avenue and the two surrounding subdivisions. We are excited that Petersburg will be a part of this national install. We know it will be a great day where we all get to work together to help save live
