VDOT KICKS OFF ASHLAND TO PETERSBURG TRAIL STUDY
Study will identify a preferred multi-use trail corridor in the Richmond metropolitan region

RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is asking for the public to help identify a preferred corridor for a multi-use trail through the metro Richmond region as part of the Ashland to Petersburg Trail study.

The multi-use trail would accommodate bicyclists, pedestrians and other active transportation users along a corridor through Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties, as well the cities of Colonial Heights, Petersburg and Richmond, and the Town of Ashland. The type of trail could vary depending on location.

A virtual presentation and survey is available online at www.ATPTrailStudy.org

VDOT is seeking public input on active transportation (walking or jogging, biking, and human powered transportation) needs in the study area, as well as help with the identification of potential multi-use trail corridor locations, destinations of interest (such as residential and recreational areas and places of work), and other important criteria for VDOT to consider.

Comments may be submitted by mail to Palmer Stearns, Project Manager, 2430 Pine Forest Dr., Colonial Heights, VA 23834 or e-mailed to ATPTrailStudy@VDOT.Virginia.gov. Comments must be submitted by April 9, 2019.
