City of Petersburg Offers Commercial
Rehabilitation Grant Program
Petersburg, Virginia: The City of Petersburg is proud to offer the Commercial Rehabilitation Grant Program in an effort to enhance the appearance of the Central Business District streetscape.
Applications are available for existing and prospective business owners within the Commercial Business District, the largest concentration of commercial historic buildings in the City. Approved applicants will receive Architectural design assistance for façade improvements.
“We’ve already received positive feedback and have one approved applicant to date,” said Petersburg Preservation Planner, Kate Sangregorio. “This program not only stimulates visual improvements, but will also result in new employment opportunities.” For each approved project, the applicant must create one full-time position within their business.
The design assistance will gather inspiration from the character of the historic district and any available record of the building’s previous appearance.
Grants are awarded on a first-come first-served basis. Application can be accessed HERE.
