[ARCHIVED] Petersburg City Assessor’s Office Releases Fiscal Year 2019 Annual Report
Petersburg City Assessor’s Office Releases Fiscal Year 2019 Annual Report
Petersburg, Virginia: The City of Petersburg announces the release of the Fiscal Year 2019 Land Book (effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019).
This is slated to be a yearly production to summarize the annual Land Book and the efforts of the City Assessor’s Office team. The report includes statistics that are frequently requested from the assessor’s office and outlines future plans for continued success.
“In 2017, I had the privilege to work with a team studying the state of the assessor’s office and creating sound recommendations for improvement,” said Brian Gordineer, Petersburg City Assessor. “After my hiring, I was well equipped to begin action on those recommendations to re-establish the assessment function.”
Initial re-establishment steps included creating a fresh assessor’s office team, scanning property record cards dating back to the 1930s, and creating an assessment calendar based on a biennial assessment cycle.
This annual report begins the tradition of sharing the achievements and progress toward goals that were the centerpiece of City Council’s 2017-2018 Study of the City Assessor’s Office by the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).
