[ARCHIVED] C. A. Harrison Companies Announces Design for Petersburg Hotel

Developer, C. A. Harrison Companies, LLC along with Commonwealth Architects announce the design of the new hotel and mixed use development at 380 East Washington Street in Petersburg. The project will act as a “Gateway to Petersburg” by providing a vibrant development in a key location at the intersection of Route 95 and East Washington Street. The existing 120,000 square foot hotel structure (formerly known as the Ramada Inn) will be completely renovated into 125 hotel rooms and suites. The new hotel rooms, suites and executive suite will meet current industry standards with a full complement of amenities including meeting rooms, conference rooms, bar, indoor pool and outdoor courtyard. The development encompasses several of the surrounding parcels which will be developed into a mixed–use complex with 26,700 square feet of retail and office spaces and up to 100 market-rate residential apartment units.

The two upper floors of the existing 12-story structure will be demolished to align the number of hotel rooms with market demand. The upper level of the existing parking structure will be demolished allowing light into the base of the building and aligning the parking requirements with the overall development. The width of the hotel structure will be increase with narrow additions on each side of the structure to bring the hotel up to current industry standards.

Chris Harrison with the C. A. Harrison Companies noted the recent success of the mixed-use development, Plant 64 in Winston-Salem was due in part to the team that designed and built it. He plans to use the same team for this project including the design by Commonwealth Architects, construction by Capstone Building Corporation of Alabama with program management by Innova Services of Philadelphia.
