The City of Petersburg Department of Public Utilities announced today the launch of the new, improved and itemized look for the utility bills. The City has received concerns from residents that they have not received utility bills for recent months. All bills will be mailed out by Friday, November 13. The bills have a due date of Monday, November 30 and covers usage for August 10 to September 17.
“We are excited to announce the new format to assist our customers in better management of their bills,” comments William E. Johnson, III, City Manager. “We understand the inconsistencies and inconveniences we have made over the last 11 months with the utility bills and see this as a positive step forward with our processes.”
Some of the new features of the bill include a bar graph for usage history, showing the specific billing period, explanation of penalty charges and the duration the bill covers. The look of the bill will be easier to read and understand as well. If customers are interested in paying prior to receipt of their physical bill, the City Treasurer’s Office has the customer’s current account information.
Utility customers have several options to pay their bill including in person at City Hall (135 N. Union Street), drop-box outside of City Hall, any SunTrust Bank location and online at www.petersburgva.gov. For any additional questions, please call the Utility Billing office at (804) 733-2349. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
