[ARCHIVED] City of Petersburg Hosts Inaugural I Am Petersburg Health & Back to School Festival

WHEN: Saturday, August 1, 2015
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Petersburg Sports Complex
100 Ballpark Road

BACKGROUND:
The City of Petersburg and Anthem HealthKeepers presents the inaugural I Am Petersburg Health & Back to School Festival for area seniors, children and families. The health event will feature a senior resource center, health screenings and backpack giveaways for registered public school students. Each student must be accompanied by a parent to receive a backpack.

Transportation is available to the Sports Complex at the following locations beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will continue service until 1:30 p.m.: Walnut Hill Elementary School, Peabody Middle School, A.P. Hill Elementary School, J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School and Robert E. Lee Elementary School.

In conjunction with the festival, Parks and Leisure Services will host the 2015 Let’s Move Summer Bash from noon to 2 p.m. There will be fun activities for kids, music, face painting, Zumba, aerobics and more. Healthy snacks, food and refreshments will be available as well.

“Anthem HealthKeepers Medicare-Medicaid Plan is proud to partner with the City of Petersburg in this initiative to celebrate the community with this intergenerational festival.” says Lisa Speller-Davis, RN, Anthem Community Outreach Manager. “We are excited to bring healthcare resource partners, educational providers and community spirit to this one event celebrating our seniors and our students returning to school.”
