The City of Petersburg (Parks and Leisure Services, Wilcox Watershed Conservancy (WWC) and the Department of Planning) would like to hear your thoughts on Lee Memorial Park and the proposed updates to the master plan.
This is a citizen participation/information meeting that will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Petersburg Public Library 201 West Washington Street (Multi-Purpose Room) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Please come and see the proposed plans. A brief presentation will be done by Carlton Abbott and Partners, P.C. and then an opportunity to answer questions and interact with staff and WWC Board Members.
For additional information please contact, Tami Yerby at 804-733-2394 or Michelle Peters at 804-733-2308.
The WWC is dedicated to restoring and preserving the over three hundred acres of woods, water, parklands , and fields in Petersburg’s Lee Memorial Park.
Nowhere else can you find tennis courts and baseball fields surrounded by a 330 million year old granite formation, a 4.5 million year old marine deposit filled with fossils, a series of Confederate Civil War earthworks, a bird and wildflower sanctuary, a landscape created by women carrying out a Depression Era WPA project, and a man-made lake, Willcox Lake, that prompted one of the country’s early Civil Rights cases.
