City of Petersburg’s Department of Human Resources today announced the city’s new electronic applicant tracking system, I AM iPETERSBURG RECRUITMENT. The recruitment site will officially launch on Monday, April 6, eliminating paper job applications for all City of Petersburg employment opportunities.
“The City is proud to be moving toward a more efficient system that will provide greater accessibility to the employment opportunities with Petersburg,” comments Lorraine Adeeb, Director of Human Resources.
Applicants will now be able to view and apply for City of Petersburg jobs online, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week from any location with Internet access. Also, applicants will have the ability to create an account that stores the application so that they can apply for multiple jobs without having to recreate a new application each time. Job notifications can be received when a position in an area(s) of interest becomes available. Applicants may check their application status on-line anytime.
The City has partnered with the Workforce Investment Group (114 N. Union Street), local Goodwills, Virginia Employment Commission and the Petersburg Public Library to provide computer and Internet access to assist individuals during their job search. Computers are also setup on the first floor of City Hall Annex (103 W. Tabb Street) for applying to City of Petersburg jobs.
To ensure a smooth transition to the new electronic system there will be a sixty-day interim period where both the paper and the electronic application will be accepted. The transition period is from Monday, April 6 through Sunday, May 31. Beginning Sunday, May 31 only electronic application will be allowed when applying for positions.
