Eastbound Left Lane Closed on East Wythe Street Bridge Due to Replacement Project
The eastbound left lane in the 300 block of East Wythe Street (near I-95) will remain closed as part of the ongoing bridge replacement project at Lieutenant’s Run. Continued flooding has caused significant erosion in the left lane, making it unsafe for use. The traffic count over this bridge averages 14,000 vehicles per day.
The design and replacement of the bridge are expected to be a lengthy process to complete, with an estimated cost of $11 million. The City is actively seeking grant funding to support this vital infrastructure project.
The new bridge will include stormwater management systems and improved roadway safety, providing a more resilient and secure corridor for travel. Detour signs will be placed in appropriate areas to guide traffic during this period.
The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to replace the bridge.
