The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office wants to warn the community about a scam targeting residents in Petersburg and the surrounding areas. Scammers are posing as sheriff’s deputies, falsely claiming you’ve missed a court date or meeting. They demand large sums of money, threatening arrest if you don’t comply.
THIS IS A SCAM. Sheriff Vanessa Crawford stresses that the Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call to request money for any reason.
Some scammers may even try to intimidate you by saying you’ll be arrested if you hang up the phone. Please don’t fall for it!

Do NOT give out personal information or send money.
