[ARCHIVED] Petersburg City Government Offices Closed on Labor Day

All Petersburg City government offices will be closed on Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day. This includes Petersburg Area Transit offices and all bus service operations. All City offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 6 for normal hours of operation.

Dogwood Trace Golf Course will be open on Labor Day. Visit to book a tee time.


CVWMA collections next week will be delayed by one day. There will be no collections on Monday, Sept. 5. Trash pickup in Petersburg will move to the following day. Red Week recycling collections also will move to the following day. Collections normally scheduled for Friday will be on Saturday. View CVWMA’s full 2022 holiday collection calendar at

Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is observed on the first Monday in September. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.
