The Petersburg Emergency Management team is monitoring weather conditions and is prepared for temperatures to rapidly drop as a strong burst of Arctic air with high winds, rain, ice, and snow is forecast to move across the region.
The first shift of Public Works road crews will report at 3am on Monday morning to prepare treating City streets. Bridges and primary roads will be treated first as needed. Road crews will continue working into the night as temperatures drop.
Police and Fire will also be monitoring road conditions throughout the night and on Monday. Transit workers will report at 4am on Monday to prepare snow plows if needed.
The City is asking citizens to stay off the roads during the storm if possible. Road crews are better able to cover streets with less traffic. Residents are also asked to use off-street parking when available.
Any power outages should be reported to Dominion Energy at 1-866-366-4357. As always in an emergency call 911.
City government offices are scheduled to open at normal hours at this time.
Petersburg will post updated information on the City website @ www.petersburg-va.org, Facebook @cityofpetersburgva, Twitter @petersburgV and Instagram @petersburg_va.
