[ARCHIVED] City Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The City of Petersburg will kick off the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month Series on Friday, September 12 at Friday for the Arts in Old Towne. From arts exhibits, crafts, food, folklore, dance and music, the City of Petersburg will hosts several events from mid-September through mid-October to celebrate the Hispanic heritage.

The kick off event, Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Reception begins at 5 p.m. at the Petersburg Area Art League located at 7 E. Old Street. Petersburg Public Library will also hosts events including Ban Caribe on Friday, September 12 at 6 p.m. Ban Caribe is an exciting blend of Afro-Cuban, Latin, Caribbean and soulful R&B, all held together with pulsating percussion. The event is free and open to the public.

On Saturday, September 13, Bailemos en Petersburg (Let’s Dance in Petersburg) will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Banquet Hall (235 Franklin Street) at 6 p.m. with a Latin dance workshop, dance contest and social dancing featuring the live sounds of Timbason.
