[ARCHIVED] City of Petersburg Announces Installation of New Automated Water Meters to Reduce Water Use

The City of Petersburg is in the process of converting all residential and commercial water meters to a new electronic read system, automated meter reading (ARM) by December 2014. The reason for this change is meter accuracy, reading efficiency and water conservation.

With the new mobile ARM system, it will replace the present way the city reads meters which consists of reading the meters manually.

While the City is in the process of installing the ARM system city-wide, and until all meters are verified and tested through out the billing cycles, the City will be sending estimated bills to customers. These bills will be based off of the customer’s history and previous use. The ARM system has been installed in cities throughout the United States and been proven to be reliable and accurate for water usage.

The City of Petersburg thanks their residents and customers for their patience and understanding as we move forward to improve our City.
