Petersburg Area Transit Announces “Ride Out to Vote” Initiative

For Election Day 2020, Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) announces the “Ride Out to Vote” campaign with the goal of assisting Petersburg residents in accessing the polls on Election Day.

On Tuesday, November 3rd, PAT will provide shuttle transportation for Petersburg residents from their homes, to the polls, beginning at 6:00 a.m. Due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, these rides may be limited and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the shuttle, all fixed route buses will stop at each Petersburg polling place.  The regular fixed routes will run from 5:45a-6:45p.  All PAT transportation will continue to be free of charge to patrons. All passengers must wear a mask aboard PAT buses.

“Petersburg is fortunate to have a Mass Transit System and we want to ensure we utilize all of our available resources to aid our citizens,” said Petersburg Mayor Sam Parham. “No one should be denied their right to vote due to a lack of transportation.”

To assist residents who may experience long lines, PAT will remain on call until approximately 9:00 p.m. on November 3rd to help residents return home. For a list of full bus schedules, Click Here.

For questions on accessing regular bus routes or to request a shuttle ride from their home to the polls, residents should call the PAT customer service hotline at 804-733-2540 or 804-732-2905.
