Petersburg Area Transit Extends Route to Support Displaced Residents
Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) announces the expansion of bus service to South Crater Road, specifically to Days Inn in Prince George County, effective Tuesday, April 23. This initiative aims to meet the transportation needs of approximately 50 seniors and disabled residents who were relocated outside the City due to developments at Carriage House Apartments around April 12.
The increased PAT service will operate with two daily trips from Days Inn, with scheduled pick-ups at 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. The final return trip from the downtown Transit Center is set for 3:00 pm. Passengers originating from Days Inn will be transported to the Transit Center located at 100 W. Washington Street, which provides convenient access to all connecting routes across Petersburg. Family members wishing to visit or accompany their loved ones from the hotel will also be accommodated.
These services will be available Monday through Saturday until residents safely return to their homes at Carriage House on Old Street.
Other residents of Carriage House have been moved to locations with existing bus services and will continue to receive support through the transit network.
The collaboration between the City of Petersburg and PAT emphasizes the commitment to assisting the displaced residents during this challenging period. The temporary closure of Carriage House Apartments for elevator repairs is expected to last at least 30 days.
