April 17, 2020 Update:
To protect the health and safety of our employees, their families, and our community, the City of Petersburg will continue operating under its modified schedule through May 8, 2020.
The City will continue operating with essential personnel only and City facilities will remain closed to the public. All necessary safety precautions have been deployed for City staff members who continue to work during this time.
Adjusted hours of operation are 9:30am - 3:30pm.

March 31, 2020 Update:
Beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2020 through Friday, April 17, 2020, the City of Petersburg will be operating under the, “Stay at Home Order” established by Governor Northam (Executive Order #55).
Under this order, the City will function under Essential Personnel only. During this time, all Public Facilities will be closed to the public, as well as all staff. Those employees who have been designated as Essential Personnel should report to their place of work as prescribed by the Deputy City Manager and/or Department Director.
All Billing and Collections payments should be made via the City’s drop box, the online payment portal, or pay by mail. Limited staff will be available during this time to address billing issues.
These steps have been taken to protect the health and safety of our employees, their families and our community. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Petersburg City Government Operations:
On Monday, March 23, 2020, Governor Northam issued Executive Order #53 which ordered the following:
Closure of all Public and Private Schools in Virginia for the remainder of the school year.
Closure of all dining and congregation areas in restaurants, with takeout services and delivery services are permitted.
Closure of all public access to recreational and entertainment businesses.
Essential retail businesses may remain open during their normal business hours but must limit all in-person shopping to no more than 10 patrons per establishment.
